「しとね」
森の片隅で幼樹は倒木をしとねに育つ。 人は自然に倣い、暮らしを営み、里山を作り、その土地をしとねとし、次の世代へと紡いできた。
土地との繋がりがうすれ、土に触れることがなくなりつつある今、忘れてしまったこと、思い出したいことがたくさんある。 様々ないのちを呑み込み、生んできたしとねが孕む記憶に触れたい。
山の暮らしの手仕事も織り交ぜ、記憶の糸を手繰り寄せるように制作する。
私たちは豊かなしとねとなれるだろうか。

Hidden in the deep forest, young trees grow from fallen trees as their nurturing bed on the ground.
Learning from and worshipping the great nature, humans used to lead their daily lives, cultivating the woodlands and growing their family there as the ‘shitone,’ the ground, then eventually hand it over to the next generation.
However, as we are losing our relationship with the land and living away from the soil, we have forgotten many things, but there are still many things we want to recall.
I would like to bring up the memories that are conceived in the ‘shitone’ which has embraced and given birth to various kinds of lives.
I create my art as though I am reeling in the threads of memory, interweaving my hand-crafting life in the mountain.
I wonder if we can ever become the rich and fertile 'shitone,’ the nourishing ground.
